From the Gerba Doku mill, owned by the Shonora family, which sits at 2200m, this coffee is grown on surrounding farms at even higher altitudes. The farmers bring the hand-picked cherry to the mill, where it is floated and sorted, then laid out to dry where it is extensively hand-sorted again, multiple times.
Powerful, complex, and unique are descriptors here. Molasses and dark sugar notes, with strong spice, are in the aroma; in the cup, deep molasses sweetness leads to dried red fruit notes, sweet fresh fig, and candied lime peel, with heaps of clove, cardamom, and nutmeg notes throughout. Excellent as espresso or drip.
