This coffee comes from Kayon Mountain Farm in the southern Guji zone, comprised of regionally distinct strains of coffee that spread from wild forest coffees, then naturally dried in the traditional Ethiopian manner.
There are plenty of berry notes in the aroma, with strawberry, blueberry, and date-like sweetness. When brewed, winey notes abound, with an unusual level of balance for a natural coffee: the blackberry and strawberry preserves shine, with cacao powder, and grapefruit and orange zest notes, and as it cools, the winey notes and juicy blueberry come again to the fore.
