Uraga Raro washing station is newer, established in 2018. They buy cherry from the surrounding high altitude smallholders; each of those 700 farms are under a hectare. The station is constantly upgrading and working to improve their processing, and the lives of the farmers they support, and they're gaining a reputation for providing excellent wet and dry process coffees.
Normally I gravitate toward super fruity, dry-process Ethiopias, but every now and then something on the other side of the spectrum hits me, and I just have to go for it. Honey and flowers hit the nose first, it's just a sweet, floral cup, but the aroma carries through to the cup as well, with orange blossom honey sweetness, cacao powder, limeade, and stone fruit carrying a bouquet of jasmine and bergamot, with a spritz of lemon zest. This coffee will excel as pourover, and make for a really amazingly floral, citrus espresso.
