Papua New Guinea is one of the most under-rated coffee origins in the world. Pristine and isolated, the Jiwaka highland area and its indigenous population rely on coffee as their only source of Western currency. Generally, the locals have coffee 'gardens' with only a few trees, and families do all labor themselves, by hand. Full natural Papua's are rare, because it's a very wet climate, but under the guidance of Monpi Coffee, the miller and exporter, they've been experimenting with alternative processing, such as this coffee.
Jammy and chocolatey, this coffee adds a fruity twist to the Indonesian profile. Deep Valrhona dark chocolate notes abound, with Smucker's raspberry jam, dried cranberry, and winey notes integrating well, with toasted almond and sesame butter, herbacious bay leaf, and floral freesia. Syrupy and sweet, this will work well with any brew method!
